Don't forget to check out our blog if you have any questions! |
UpdatesWe have decided to add this page for special updates as we gather new information about products, techniques, sites, or anything that was not there when it started. We have Google Alerts out to pick up all kinds of articles relating to our topic, and will constantly be adding to this page as we discover new items of interest. We will add the new updates at the top, but leave the others up for awhile so you can see what has been added since you last visited. 4/23/12: We have eliminated our toll free number as of today. It was costing us about $300 a year to maintain it, and the benefits were not worth the cost. We are a web-based business, and our customers normally communicate by computer. We do not take orders offline, and we make every attempt to answer every conceivable question on the web site, so there should be very little reason for phone calls. If someone still has a question, please use our contact us form. If a call is absolutely necessary, our phone number is at the bottom of every web page. As we get out and travel more and work on other projects, we may not always be in the office, but we do have voice mail. Thank you for your understanding. 4/21/12: We have set up the blog with its own opt-in box, which is totally automated. The opt-in on this site is totally separate from that. Some people may already have an RV and not need the minivan book, but can still get value out of the blog posts, which can be about literally ANYTHING RV or camper related. Othes may be only interested in creating their own minivan. So now they have a choice, and don't have to subscribe to both. 12/18/11: As of today we have changed the way that people can opt-in for the free book. There were a few people who took advantage of our generosity in giving the book away, and decided to take it by giving our opt-in form a fictitious email address. It wasn't a lot... maybe 5% of them, but why would they want the book if they aren't going to stick around and see what else we have? There are some exciting projects coming up in the future, as well as new products to be announced, updates to the projects already started, and much more! I've already told them I wouldn't flood their inbox with constant emails, and those who have stuck with me know that to be true. I have no autoresponder system set up to send out useless email blasts! I don't work that way! But there are those who always want "something for nothing", and so to foil their initial attempts to waste my time (and maybe theirs) I have created a "double-opt-in" method, whereby I have to physically reply to their opt-in form to a CORRECT address before they can get the link to the book! Of course, they can still opt-out at any time later, but maybe it will stop some of the foolish nonsense! This is fine for the free version of the book, but before I release a paid version of it, I will be getting a professional program that will allow me to to shut the book off if they decide on a refund. It's a shame that the actions of only a few can mess up the good intentions of the many, but I guess there will always be that 5% that just doesn't "get it", and refuse to follow the rules that other 95% live by every day... and we have to protect ourselves from them... at EVERYONE"S expense! 7/20/11: We just received a photo contribution from a reader regarding using an "O2 Cool Fan" with a Robertshaw home thermostat to cool his Dodge Caravan. You can be your own judge as to how to use the information for your own use. Just click on the link to go straight to it. Note: the above article is the kind of things that we hope readers will send in, to show others what they are doing, so everyone can get involved and learn from each other. Just like in school, if you don't participate, you won't learn as much! Email me your projects and photos and I will publish them (at my discretion). 7/20/11: I was reading an article this morning on Truck Camper Magazine about keeping things cool in extreme heat, and a mention of Hella fans got my attention. Since our minivan camper conversion is somewhat limited on "secondary battery" power by the size of the auxiliary battery pack used with it, conserving power is extremely important. You can read more about these fans on our fans and air conditioning page. 6/26/11: L.H., one of our subscribers, remarked about being surprised I was recommending thermoelectric coolers instead of compressor type refrigeration units. My main reasoning was current draw, as the last one I had used several years ago sucked the batteries dry in no time. However, I did the research on what he had recommended, and sure enough, they are VERY suitable for our application, and the current draw is almost comparable on these newer units to what a thermoelectric unit draws. However, dig deep when you go to buy one, as the cost is about four times what you would pay for a thermoelectric cooler! You can read more about it on the powered cooler page. |
